The patterns we carry

A familiar response can become an invitation to look a little closer.

EBONY REIGNReflection 02A moment to pause

Sometimes we recognize a response before we understand it. A conversation begins to feel familiar. We grow quiet, explain too much, take charge, or prepare to leave.

A pattern is not a verdict. It is something we can notice with curiosity. It may have developed for a reason, and it may serve us differently in different places.

Consider the situation, the meaning you gave it, and the response that followed. What did you know? What did you assume? What did you need? These questions can make room between an experience and the story we tell about it.

There is no obligation to change every pattern we discover. Sometimes understanding one is enough to reveal a choice we had not noticed before.

What response appears often in my life? Where does it help me, and where might I want another option?
